Pittsburgh, PA, August 8, 2014: During the Kickoff Party at the National Aviary, fifteen restaurants participating in Pittsburgh Restaurant Week Summer 2014 provided passed samplings to a crowd of 175 foodies. With hopes of luring customers in for restaurant week special menus, restaurants competed for the #BESTPREVIEW PRABBY (Pittsburgh Restaurant Awarded Best By Yinz) award.
Each guest carried two votes, one via ballot and one via text message. The crowd favorite was a special version of a filet oscar. The dish was assembled as a potato pancake topped with sliced tenderloin and an almond crusted scallop from The Wooden Nickel and got the most votes securing their honors as the #BESTPREVIEW recipient for the Pittsburgh Restaurant Week Awards.
This award is the second consecutive #BestPreview award for The Wooden Nickel. The restaurant earned top honors during the Winter 2014 kickoff party by offering a jumbo seared shrimp with crab and Tahitian vanilla bean crab sauce.
