During the week of January 16-22, 2012, Pittsburgh Restaurant Week was reborn as a celebration. Thirty Pittsburgh-area restaurants participated by offering specials including $20.12 special menu options or fixed-price menus ranging from $15-35. And even despite some cold weekend weather, diners came out in support to celebrate the diverse steel city dining scene. The event’s success belongs to the city. Bloggers, Twitter users, traditional and social media outlets provided coverage of the event and generated an overwhelming sense of excitement.

Throughout the week, diners snapped photos of their Restaurant Week plates and uploaded them to the Pittsburgh Restaurant Week Winter 2012 Foodspotting Guide for their chance to win free dinner for two, donated by Habitat Restaurant. Congratulations to @_steelcityfox for being randomly selected for her submission of her restaurant week plate at Kaleidoscope Cafe.

OpenTable was the event’s official online reservations sponsor of the event. Only 11 of the 30 participating restaurants were available via OpenTable. Over the course of the week, Pittsburgh area diners utilized the service to make reservations at participating OpenTable restaurants, which resulted in nearly 1000 restaurant week meals.

A special thanks goes out to Braddock’s American Brasserie, Elements Contemporary Cuisine, Habitat Restaurant, Bocktown, Yelp and Table Magazine for their support of the restaurant week special events.
